Paul McNally Motherwell :: Email SuppliedI lived in Forgewood for a few years (recently) and I sometimes go past and feel that I miss it somehow. Lived on Ashton Street. The people were fantastic, friendly, chatty and helpful. Before I moved there, I had an idea about the place (the WRONG idea!) and its people. 98% of the time was very good there. People here look after their own. That's a good thing - how it should be. Every area has a 'bad bit', Forgewood is no exception but I feel it is being tarred with a historical brush. As I said before, The people here are GOOD. Maybe their circumstances aren't ideal but they generally do their best. I hope the regeneration gives this place the final push that it needs. It deserves a higher status. Good luck to you all.9 Oct 2008 @ 2:2

alison USA :: Email SuppliedI lived here from 89 til 02. Raised 3 kids there, who got a great education at Braidhurst, went onto uni. Made lifelong friends there. We moved to the USA in 02. I dont know if we did not see the deteroation, living it day to day, but I came home in 07 after a 5yr break. I cried when I saw how bad it was. There are so many well meaning people who try hard for the area, but I dont know if there is an answer. I am very fond of Forgewood, and was angry at the last comment made. But I have to be honest he's right. Anyone who knew me knows I feared for the safety of my kids. The true tragedy was we lived in the private sector, which is now worse that the public sector. The truth is they put millions of pounds into the area nearly 20 yrs ago and it did not work. So if money is not the answer I dont know what is. I do wish all the decent people (and there are many) who live there the very best.31 Aug 2008 @ 3:31
