Rob Brown's Biography

Forgewood's Community Police Officer

Rob Brown, 35 years young, Motherwell born and bred, married to Lorraine (herself, a former pupil of Braidhurst High School) and father to their three young children; he has served as Community Officer for Forgewood since 4th January 2003. Rob is a keen football fan, and a season ticket holder at Fir-Park.

Rob has had an eventful and colourful career during his time with the UK Police. He has seen 8 years service with the Metropolitan Police.

Where he served mainly in South-west London, working in busy inner-city divisions including Battersea, Wandsworth, Clapham, Brixton and Tooting. During his time in the "Met", he completed and passed his advance-pursuit driving course; that he did so 4 years earlier in his career than is the norm is impressive.

Rob was awarded 5 commendations in his time with the "Met" - including one for bravery and another for his part in preventing one young man committing suicide. Rob, public order trained since 1992, is no shrinking violet.

He positively thrives on being thrown in at the deep end to situations where others dare not go. Rob, has been called on to put these skills to good use having policed many large-scale disturbances, including a riot in Trafalgar Square.

Rob returned home in December 1997 to join Strathclyde Police. He served in Coatbridge, Wishaw and Motherwell sub-divisions, before taking up his current post with the community police, serving in Forgewood since 4th January 2003.

Rob prides himself on his drive, workload and dedication to duty. He considers himself a fair cop, always willing to listen to residents, witnesses and arrested persons alike. Rob is convinced he has had made a positive impact in Forgewood - forging better links with the community and tackling local issues head on. Rob says of himself "I do not shirk responsibility, and have accepted ownership of most problems within Forgewood. I believe I am very approachable, a good communicator and willing to listen to any local concerns."

Forgewood is fortunate to have a designated officer allocated to it. We should therefore make best use of this resource.
